Are you a real person?
Yes, I have been very real for several decades, now.
Do you use AI to write or help you write?
Every word in my books and blog posts is human generated (feel free to test anytime). I occasionally have tested different ones in an effort to speed up research. Search results can be much more efficient than using a search engine. That’s all I’ll ever use one for. (An example was, I used an AI to help me find a motorcycle a former military man would own – so I knew which one to write about in a story…about the couple enjoying each other’s company on a motorcycle. DETAILS MATTER)
Why do you write so many different genres?
It’s the ideas’ fault? Not mine. Honestly, there are times I’ve been hit with ideas that I had to go read that genre to figure out how to write it. I don’t ask why. I just do the best I can to bring the story to life.
I think it’s good to push boundaries and try new things. I think there’s an element of mystery / suspense in everything I write – even a romantic comedy.
While I may run amok writing comedy one day and science fiction the next, my stories always stick to the same moral code and end positively. I try to achieve a (realistically) positive ending where the main male character and main female character are committed to one another and ready to face the future together.
Where do you get your ideas?
Usually, I’ll get a glimpse of something, jot down (on iOS notes or EverNote) a concept. And then, I’ll be driving somewhere and a song will suddenly bring a scene into my head. And sometimes, scenes turn into a short story. Sometimes, they end up a 3-book series. It’s a dangerous game of roulette.
Why does it take you so long to publish?
I’m committed to a bi-annual publishing schedule. If I can publish more, I will, but I would prefer to be consistent. I’d hate to publish 4 books one year and only be able to publish 2 the next. I’d like to set expectations I know I can meet.
Do you sell my data?
Never. I’m a privacy advocate and cyber security consultant in my day job. I want to sell books, not your data.
Why should I contact you?
Why not? I’m nice. I like to know about the people who are reading my stories. It matters to me that you’re here and you read something I wrote – even if it was just this lousy FAQ.
My husband has a terrible 3D printing habit. I have some cool keychains. Send me a note and I’ll send you one – if you want.
